Women's Ministry at The Austin Stone

Supporting the flourishing, discipleship, and mobilization of women for God's glory and the church's good

What is Women's Ministry?

Women's Ministry at The Austin Stone is a collaborative effort that supports women through connection, equipping, and leadership development. We believe God has created, called, and gifted all women for the church’s flourishing and the ministry of the gospel.

What We Do

We create spaces for women to know and be known by others so they can find their home and voice at The Austin Stone. Through equipping, cultivating gifts, and catalyzing leaders, we empower women to display the fullness of God’s glory in our church, our city, and around the world. Every congregation provides opportunities to connect with other women and deepen your love for Jesus through gatherings, mentorship, and Bible studies. We also host church-wide events for community and discipleship.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get involved in Women’s Ministry?

We encourage you to join us for one of our Bible studies in the fall or spring, attend a gathering at your congregation, or come to a training event! We’re also always looking for women to serve, mentor, and lead in other ministries across The Austin Stone. You can directly contact your congregation’s Women’s Ministry representative to better understand the needs and available opportunities to serve!

What can I expect at an event like Women’s Retreat, Women’s Workshop, or a gathering at my congregation?

Discipleship is both personal and communal, so we believe it’s important to create events that help cultivate relationships with one another. When women come together for conversations, shared meals, and studying the Bible, God does amazing things. All our events seek to help us magnify Jesus in our lives and spur us on in faith.

Here are a few regular Women’s Ministry events:

  • Women’s Retreat is an annual weekend event in March, where women spend extended time away together around a biblical text or topic. The weekend includes worship and teaching by Austin Stone leaders and intentional opportunities for connection and refreshment.
  • Women’s Workshop is an annual one-day event in August that specifically aims to help women grow in biblical literacy. This interactive seminar is an all-day training led by a trusted teacher from outside The Austin Stone.
  • Congregational Women’s gatherings vary in frequency and content, but are always great opportunities for connection and growth alongside women in your congregation!

What can I expect from a Women’s Bible study?

Every fall and spring, we offer a Bible study for women to participate in with others from their congregation. These studies are typically six weeks long and begin in late March and late September. These Bible studies are designed to help women grow their knowledge and love of the Bible. They include guided homework, class lectures, and group discussion times.

Congregations also regularly host a variety of classes during the fall and spring semester, which can include equipping opportunities for new moms, book clubs, or more!

What types of groups do you have for women at The Austin Stone?

The primary way we encourage group involvement at The Austin Stone is through missional communities that meet regularly. These groups typically include women and men. You can contact your congregation’s Connection Director for next steps on how to get involved with a group at The Austin Stone.

We also recommend participating in one of our semesterly women’s Bible studies as a supplement to your spiritual growth in community!

Do you have any resources that could help me grow in my faith?

We love books and podcasts, but we ultimately hope to point you to the Bible and community for discipleship and spiritual growth. That’s why our studies focus on helping you know, love, and obey God’s Word with others and developing skills for personal Bible study!

How can I find a mentor?

Our Women’s Mentorship Network introduces mentors to potential mentees.

  • If you’re a partner of The Austin Stone and are interested in mentoring another woman in our church, please fill out this form
  • If you’re looking for a mentor, we’d love to find someone to connect you with! You can fill out this form to get connected.

Please note that because the number of available mentors limits our network, we ask that potential mentees already be involved in a missional community, and we will prioritize women who are partners of The Austin Stone.

What additional care is available to me?

Our counseling center offers direct biblical counseling services, groups, and classes. They also have resources for walking through infertility, infidelity, post-abortive care, recovery, and more.

We’d also love to get to know you and connect you to pastoral care at your congregation if needed. Contact your congregation’s Women’s respresentative or the Women’s Ministry directly at women@austinstone.org.
