Help support immigrants in your community as they learn and practice English! Here are a few ways to get involved:
Serve as a Class Volunteer
The ESL Ministry would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers serving as lead teachers, assistant teachers, and class hosts! As a volunteer, you'll help lead table discussions or provide class instruction. You do NOT need to speak a second language or have an ESL certification to serve. We provide training, materials, and curriculum.
Expectations:
- Serve 1–2 times per week (classes are held at North Campus every Tuesday and Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30am)
- Must be a Christian and involved in a local church (we are a Bible-based school)
Serve as a Conversation Buddy
We invite students to join our church community, and a crucial way we do this is through the Conversation Buddy Program. Volunteers are paired with one or two students in our ESL Class and meet with their buddy to practice English and serve as a welcoming presence. Individuals, friends, and families are welcome to serve together.
Expectations:
- Meet with your buddies at least once a month
- Coordinate these meeting times
