Hebrews 13:5-6

  1. Before we begin, spend a few moments in honest self-reflection. In which aspects of your life are you experiencing discontentment today? Be honest.
  2. Read Hebrews 13:5–6 and make a few observations from these two verses.
  3. No matter how much money we possess, we are almost always tempted to believe it is never enough. Describe and assess your current relationship with money.
  4. The book of Hebrews is rich with the promises of God. What promises of God are given in this passage, and how do they relate to money?
  5. Use your imagination to describe what it would look like for a person living today to truly live “free from love of money.” Describe this person’s lifestyle and relationships, as well as their spiritual and emotional life. Do you know anyone like this?
  6. Read Matthew 6:19–21. What does it look like to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven”? How are you putting that into practice? Are there any changes you need to make in your life to pursue this better?
  7. Read 1 Timothy 6:6–10. What would it look like for you to experience 1 Timothy 6:6 today in light of your answers to question #1?
