Education & Experience

Denise received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Montclair State University in New Jersey. She also received her master's degree in Counseling and pursued her school counselor, advanced counseling, and substance awareness certificates while there.

Wanting to equip herself in biblical counseling, she completed the Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling certificate from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) and the Equipped to Counsel course through Austin Stone. Before moving to Austin, Denise was a New Jersey public high school counselor in urban districts for five years and volunteered at a women's pregnancy center.

Interests & Specialties

Denise has a passion for faithful biblical counseling and competent clinical care. She loves learning how these two worlds can intersect without neglecting one or the other. Denise works mostly with teenagers, young adults, and women and has experience with school-related issues, career and college concerns, conflict resolution, stress and anxiety, singleness, suicidal ideation, and multicultural issues. She is also interested in working with clients struggling with depression, same-sex attraction, their faith, and other issues.

Personal

Hailing from the East Coast, Denise was born and raised in northern New Jersey but has roots in Argentina. She is fluent in Spanish, loves hymns, asado, the local church, and her husband of three years, Chris. Together, they love their rescue dog, Newton. Active in her local church, she currently serves as the children's coordinator and on the greeting team. She begrudgingly supports her husband's love of Philly sports and of quoting SpongeBob SquarePants.
