Christmas at The Austin Stone

The Bible never states how long the wise men’s journey took. Weeks at the very least? Long enough that someone in the party surely said the question all parents dread, “Are we there yet?”

But the wise men continued traveling, avoiding the plots and machinations of Herod and probably all the road bumps that accompany a trip of any length. They waited. They knew if they kept following the star, they would find the greatest treasure.

And they did.

May we learn from them this season as we wait to celebrate Jesus’ birth. May we wait with resurrection-fueled hope. May we pray for and pursue peace. May we burble with joy, “rejoicing exceedingly with great joy.” May we remember how much we are loved so that we might love God and others in turn.
