Interests & Specialties

Michelle especially enjoys marriage counseling and often utilizes the works and teachings of John Gottman, Paul Tripp, and Peacemaker Ministries. She has helped restore marriages struggling in the aftermath of affairs or other forms of broken trust. She has also worked with couples dealing with escalating and repetitive arguments, physical or emotional intimacy issues, communication, and many other marital struggles. Michelle has extensive experience working with individuals desiring to overcome issues of anxiety, depression, identity, self-worth, shame, sexual abuse, conflict resolution, boundaries, communication, grief and loss, and family-of-origin issues. Michelle also likes working with adolescents and parents struggling in their parent-child relationship or dealing with problem behaviors at home or at school. She will work with adoptive and foster parents utilizing the teachings of TBRI, but does not see children individually under the age of 12. Michelle employs a brief, solution-focused approach to counseling and also draws from counseling theories and techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and family systems. Michelle often employs humor, roughly-drawn visual illustrations, and analogies or metaphors during session.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys cooking and baking, listening to classical music, playing with her cocker spaniel, and going on walks with her husband and her son.
