During the Texas 2022 fiscal year, 38,294 children spent time in Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) custody, with 1,233 of those children being from Travis County and 283 from Williamson County. For some time, the child welfare system has been struggling to provide these children with loving homes and preserve and restore their biological families.
At this gathering, you'll learn more about the child welfare system in Texas and ways that you can get involved in caring for vulnerable children! We'll cover topics like fostering and/or adopting, supporting adoptive/foster families, helping preserve biological families, supporting aged-out teens, and advocating for foster children.
Childcare will be provided.
