Bible Story: Moses Strikes the Rock • Numbers 20:1-13
Bottom Line: Believing God will help me be patient with people.
We have already learned about a time when the Israelites did not get what they wanted and they complained to Moses and Aaron about it. You would think that the Israelites would remember that God is in control and that He is leading them and will take care of them by now, but they had not. (I apparently have not learned this lesson either!) So, they come to Kadesh and there is no water and they complain and grumble against Moses. Moses and his brother go and pray to God asking what to do, and God tells them to speak to the rock and He will cause water to flow.
All seems normal, until Moses gets out in front of everyone and loses his cool. Perhaps he is just tired of them complaining (after all this had been going on for YEARS!!!) or perhaps it was spurred on in part by the grief Moses was suffering with the death of his sister. But in any case, he yells at KEEP READING
In Preschool this month, we're teaching how God made us to worship Him. This week, we talked about how God made us with a purpose. The Bible passages we taught from were Jeremiah 29:11 and Ephesians 2:4-10.
Check out the Small Talk (Skipping, Building, and Connecting Stones) or Big Talk (Leaping, Jumping, Corner, Living, and Mile Stones) cards for our memory verse and an activity to do with your children.
For Grade School, the entire month of May we will be teaching on patience - trusting God for what to provide and when to provide it. This week we continued our series on Moses and the Israelites, specifically from Exodus 33:12-17 where God reminds Moses that He has a plan, and that He will carry it out. The bottom line is that knowing God has a plan helps us to be patient.

For Grade School, the entire month of May we will be teaching on patience - trusting God for what to provide and when to provide it. This week we continued our series on Moses and the Israelites, specifically from Exodus 16:1-18 where God provides manna from heaven. The bottom line is that God knows what I need and I will wait on him to provide it. Check out the God Time Cards for some daily devotionals you can do with your children on this week's lesson.

SO far we have been learning that patience really means that we trust in God. Here is what we are studying this week with your grade school child:
Bible Story: Our Heavenly Father Knows • Exodus 33:12-16
Bottom Line: Knowing that God has a plan helps us to be patient.
So this is our third week to learn about patience studying Moses and the Israelites. When we left off last week, God had the Israelites following Him with a cloud during the day and a pillar of fire by night. He had just made a covenant with Israel, promising them that He is their God and they will be His people. Right after this, Moses leaves the Israelites for a while and goes up on this mountain to talk to God. While he is gone, Israel forgets about God and how He loves them and this promise He just made to them. They actually make a golden calf and start worshipping it, again forgetting all the things God has done for them. Moses comes back down from the mountain and cannot believe what he sees!
