Beginning Turkish 10 weeks

In this class, you will learn Turkish from a fluent speaker. This is an applied learning course where you will learn how to speak, read, and write beginning Turkish. Learning Turkish will better enable you to engage with Turks in Austin and abroad.

Building Stronger Marriages 10 weeks

For: Married couples       Fee: $25      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Are you married? Kids...no kids? Three years...twenty-three years? Together, Marrieds in the Austin Stone will walk through what the Bible teaches us are the keys to building stronger marriages and healthier families. In the community of this Get Trained class, our time together will not be to add more "you should be doing..." to your life, but rather to reveal more of God and His ways to you. The result? Greater freedom, fullness, and spiritual fruitfulness will be evidenced in your marriage through Seeking Him in humility, honesty, repentance, grace, holiness, obedience, forgiveness, sexual purity. Counselor Training 11 weeks

This class is designed for those serving in our counseling ministry, with the purpose of equipping individuals to respond appropriately to personal, emotional, grief and loss issues, and to reach out and touch the lives of hurting people. Crossing Cultures 9 weeks

Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

This course will prepare you to cross cultural barriers that inhibit the understanding and valuing of the supremacy of Jesus Christ. This is an applied course that focuses on building skills for cross-cultural interaction in your neighborhood, at the office, and around the world. [download syllabus]

Encountering the World of Islam 10 weeks

Fee: $25      Homework: 2-3 hours/week

There are almost two million Muslims in the US alone, making Islam the second most popular religion in the United States. Sadly, Christians rarely reach out to Muslims. Some feel Muslims are too difficult to reach with the Gospel. Others simply don’t know where to start such a cross-cultural conversation. Ephesians: Saved by Grace, Walking in Power 8 weeks

For: women       Fee: $10      Homework: 2-3 hours/week

In this inductive Bible study we will look at what the book of Ephesians calls the mystery of Christ. We will learn that God's chosen people have been set free from sin by Jesus and are united together as the church. Through God's power we can walk worthy in the manner of the calling we have received - to live in unity, holiness, and love in all of our relationships. [download syllabus]

Gospel Christianity 10 weeks

Often, as Christians, we love the gospel because of what it has done for us: salvation. Do we understand the gospel is not only the foundation for salvation, but also for our day-to-day life? This class will examine how salvation is in many ways just the beginning of the good news of the gospel, and consider how the gospel should be the lens through which we see everything we think and do.

How to host/lead your vision series group 7 weeks

Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Are you interested in hosting/leading a missional group of people through the vision series? If so, this class will equip you with the tools to walk a group of people through the heart of our Church.

Intro to Counseling 4 weeks

Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

This track is designed to equip those interested in counseling with basic counseling skills (i.e. active listening, reflective statements), insight into self-care and opportunities to practice using the basic counseling skills.

Journaling through Nehemiah 7 weeks

For: women       Fee: $10      Homework: 2-3 hours/week

Whether you are a first time reader of the Word or a seasoned veteran of study, this class will practice using journaling to pull truth out of Scripture by journaling through the book of Nehemiah. Journaling: How to Study the Bible is a required prerequisite. [download syllabus]

Mary and Martha 5 weeks

For: women       Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

This class will examine the three primary Biblical references to Mary and Martha of Bethany. Through studying their relationship with Christ, we will: 1) have our minds renewed to know the necessity of deep knowledge of Him, 2) have our hearts stirred to worship, and 3) be challenged to serve out of an overflow of a personal relationship with Christ. Memorizing Scripture: History of Redemption 8 weeks

Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Join us as we memorize the Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, that tell the history of God's work of redemption. Knowing the story of redemption told directly from Scripture will be an indispensable tool for evangelism and will cause your mind and heart to get a deeper understanding of God's greatness. Mercy Ministry 6 weeks

Fee: $10      Homework: 2-3 hours/week

Mercy ministry is taking part in the building & restoring of the Kingdom of God in broken lives, living out the gospel through word and deed. Understand the call of God to mercy and the skills necessary to meet the needs of the poor, the orphan, the widow, and all of the least of these. You will learn the scriptural basis for mercy and be trained to assess and meet needs, begin a mercy ministry, and participate in the current ministries that the Austin Stone Community Church is currently partnering with to reach the city. Missional Community Leadership Foundations 5 weeks

Join us as we walk through the vision and values of our missional communities, as well as discussion group dynamics and meetings and stages of group life.

Missional Community Multiplication 5 weeks

For: small group leaders       Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Join us as we walk through the vision and values of our missional communities. This class will focus on how to train a new leader as well as analyzing the steps to multiplication.

Nearly and Newly Wed 10 weeks

For: Nearly and Newly married couples       Fee: $10      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Spend time with other nearly and newlyweds in this important life stage. Learn the principles of a Godly marriage and discuss practical issues that we face when two become one. Course commitment includes weekly participation in a small group outside of class, which will also cover the Vision Series with the church.

NT Survey I 7 weeks

Have you ever wondered why there are 4 gospels? Why not just one? God has graciously provided us 4 different perspectives on the person and work of Christ. In this class we will walk through each of the gospels, as well as Acts, in the hopes that we would be transformed by the knowledge of God as we see Him in Christ and trust in Him and His work to a greater degree. Overcoming Sin and Temptation 10 weeks

For: men's class and women's class       Fee: $20      Homework: 2-3 hours/week

Sin is tenacious, but by God’s grace, we can hate it and hunt it. Together we will search the Scriptures and discuss the why’s and how’s of killing sin and overcoming temptation in our lives through pursuing Christ. This class is based on the work Morti­fication of Sin, by John Owen. We will meet for 5 weeks of class time, followed by 4 weeks of outside accountability groups, finishing with 1 class to wrap up and discuss next steps. Course fee includes book. [download syllabus]

Parenting: Building Relationships 8 weeks

For: parents       Fee: $20      Homework: 1-2 hours/week

Our relationships play an instrumental role in shaping who we become. In order to help our children grow up into mature men and women, we need to take a large role in helping them establish and maintain healthy and godly relationships. Through this course, we will take a look at three relationships in your child's life: their relationship with God, their relationship with their parents, and their relationship with others. Reason For God (formerly PaveStone) 7 weeks

Why does God allow suffering in the world? How could a loving God send people to hell? How can one religion claim to be 'the only way'? Reason for God will walk through these basic questions of belief and the overarching story that the bible tells. Sovereignty of God in Salvation 7 weeks

This class will examine what the Bible says about our sin, salvation and perseverance and how they relate to each other in order to better understand our own spiritual walk and to become more equipped to share Christ with others. [download syllabus]
