Midweek Update from Memphis
Trips

We have a group of students who are serving this spring break in Memphis with an organization called Service Over Self.

The team is getting an opportunity to serve the Binghampton neighborhood through home repair, and we have two roofing teams and a drywall finishing/interior finishing team. In the evenings, we have had the opportunity to hear from Eric Bayse, a former SOS director, teach about the glory of God, the justice of God, and God’s heart for the nations, as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with a few families who have deliberately moved to the inner city to serve and live in a community in need.

God has been teaching us this week about selfless service, about His heart for the poor and oppressed, and about radical obedience to Christ. We’ve gotten to meet some interesting people, hear some heartbreaking stories, and yet also see the hope and vibrancy of a community much different from our everyday setting at UT.

Please pray for us, that God would continue to shape us, that He would continue to break our hearts for the people He loves, and that He would display His glory by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us.

Below are some photos (taken from a camera phone):
